THE COMPETITION
THE BASIC LEVEL
An unspecified number of Certificates of Merit and Certificates of Excellence are awarded by the Show Committee to exhibits entered at the Basic Level. First-time exhibitors who feel their work is of sufficient quality are encouraged to bypass the Basic Level and enter in the General Level or the Advanced Level. The Basic Level consists of two divisions - A) Ages fourteen and below and B) Ages fifteen and above.
THE GENERAL LEVEL
The General Level Certificates of Merit and Certificates of Excellence are intended to encourage painters and modelers who feel that their work is not yet ready to be judged in the Advanced Level competition. Eligibility requires that an entrant has never won an award at the Advanced Level. The entrant may enter the General Level each year, providing that the above criteria are met.
THE ADVANCED LEVEL
Although the Advanced Level Awards are Gold, Silver, Bronze and Certificates of Merit, they should not be perceived as First, Second, Third, and Fourth Place awards. By simply entering the competition and displaying your work in front of the public eye, you have "placed". The awards are intended solely to recognize levels of accomplishment and proficiency in the hobby. The Advanced Level consisted of three separate divisions - Open, Painters and Ordnance.
THE OPEN DIVISION
Judging in the Open Division is heavily weighted by scratch-built and converted figures and dioramas, so if you build straight from the box, you should consider entering your exhibit in either the Painters or the Ordnance Division.
THE PAINTERS DIVISION
The Painters Division acknowledges those pieces that display a high proficiency in painting skills. Although the piece may be scratch-built or converted, only the quality of painting will be considered in the judging. Groundwork and elaborate bases will not be considered in the judging in this division. However, a poorly executed base can have a negative effect on the judgment of an exhibit.

PAINTERS DIVISION SPECIAL COMPETITION

In judging the Painter's Figure and Painter's Model Competitions, the judges will follow the judging criteria as established in the Painters Division.

THE ORDNANCE DIVISION
Non-figure miniature displays comprise most of the entries in the Ordnance Division. Although figures may be an integral part of the piece, the exhibit is judged solely for the excellence in painting, construction (including scratch-built and conversion) and detail of the "mechanical contrivance".
OUTSTANDING EXHIBITOR AWARD
In every show there are select few exhibitors whose work is of such high quality that special recognition is warranted. To give these gifted people their just recognition, the Outstanding Exhibitor Award was instituted. The judges elect recipients of the award and their pieces on exhibit are removed from competition for Certificates of Merit and Bronze Medals. The exhibitor's pieces on display are still eligible for Gold and Silver Medals. To qualify for this award, the exhibitor must have at least three separate pieces on display, all considered by the judges to be of award-winning quality, clearly demonstrating the exhibitor's superior creativity, artistry and skill.
SHOW COMMITTEE AWARDS
